Latitudes II. Building Exteta’s Cinematic Signature.

Expertise: Narrative Direction / Furniture Productions / Visual Campaigns

Cava Arcari gave Latitudes II an extraordinary destination: an underground quarry where Exteta’s furniture stood among monumental stone surfaces and reflections. The challenge was to build a journey toward it, creating curiosity before revealing the collection.

fffilms conceived, directed and produced the film, connecting landscape, raw material and design. The journey began outdoors, following torrents and forest trails. What people encountered along the way would gradually bring them closer to the furniture.

The storyboard gave this progression its shape. Pencil lines initially suggested paths across topographic maps, then revealed themselves as design sketches. The collection was already part of the journey, even before it appeared.

Additional studio filming extended that idea. A small fragment of marble became a landscape in its own right, opening the way into the quarry. These sequences connected the outdoor journey to the materials and forms waiting inside.

Within Cava Arcari, projected landscapes and changing light transformed the setting around the furniture. Nature encountered outside returned across the stone walls and water. We directed the filming around these relationships, allowing the collection to emerge gradually within the space.

We filmed in summer, with a 20°C temperature difference between the outside and the quarry. Water dripped from the ceiling, and natural fog gave the space the feeling of a fantasy film. Both filming and working with projections were demanding in those cold, wet conditions.

Editing and sound design shaped the experience of arrival. The movement of the outdoor journey gave way to longer views of the collection. The film eventually returned to the pages of the cahier, bringing the places, materials and furniture back into the physical book.

With its second chapter, Latitudes became a continuing story for Exteta. The journey gave the new collection a world of its own, with each piece filmed as a timeless art object. Exteta now had the beginnings of a cinematic signature that could develop across future collections.
